Task search

How to open search

Tap the magnifier in the header of the Tasks screen — a separate search screen opens with an input field and the list of results. To return to the task list, use the back arrow in the top left corner.

What is searched

Search works as you type and matches the query against four task fields:

• title;
• number (ID) — with or without #: #1044 and 1044 find the same task;
• project name (queue, board, group — whatever your tracker calls it);
• description.

Search is case-insensitive.

Where it searches

Search runs over the tasks loaded into the list — right on the phone, so it works offline too. Below the input field you can see where the search is running:

• "Filtering loaded" — the normal mode;
• "Offline — searching cache only" — without internet;
• "Searching the server…" — looking up a task by number in the tracker (see below).

List filters apply to search as well. If presets or filters (projects, statuses and so on) are selected on the task list, search looks among the tasks they left. When a query finds nothing, the screen says so: "Search hid the remaining tasks — query: …". If you cannot find a task that definitely exists, check the filters on the list or find it by number.

There is no full-text search on the tracker side: a task that has never been loaded into the list will not be found by title. You can find it by number.

Opening a task by number

Type the task number and press the search key on the keyboard:

1. If a task with this number is among the loaded ones, its card opens right away.
2. If not, the app asks the connected trackers: the task may simply not be in the cache. Trackers with numeric IDs are queried only for a numeric query, trackers with letter keys (for example, DEV-12) — for any query.
3. If no tracker finds the task, you see the message "Issue #… not found in any tracker".

Looking up a number in the tracker requires a network. Offline, the app says so: "No network — ID search unavailable" — while the number is still searched among the loaded tasks as usual.

Recent queries

While the input field is empty, chips with recent queries — up to five — are shown instead of the task list. Tap a chip to put the query into the field; the cross on a chip removes the query from history.

A query is added to history when you press the search key on the keyboard, not on every typed letter. History is stored on this phone only.

Voice search

You can also find a task by voice: "find crane". Voice search works differently — it searches all saved tasks of the organization, ignores the list filters, and shows a numbered list of results. See Voice commands for details.
