Account and organizations
How sign-in, the personal organization and adding trackers work
Sign-in and the personal organization
On your first sign-in — with any supported tracker (Redmine, Yandex Tracker and others) — Taskloc automatically:
- creates your Taskloc account (no separate sign-up is needed);
- creates a personal organization where you are the owner;
- connects the tracker you signed in with as the first integration of that organization.
From then on, all tasks, routes and time tracking are tied to the active organization.
You can switch the active organization with the organization icon in the top right corner of the Tasks screen. Switching works offline too — see Multiple organizations offline.
Your account email comes from the tracker
You do not type your email when signing in this way — Taskloc takes it from the tracker. If the tracker does not share the address (for example, Redmine with "Hide my email" checked), a placeholder address such as ivanov@redmine.local is used instead — it looks like an email, but mail sent to it goes nowhere.
What depends on it:
- invitations — nobody can find you by email, and an invitation goes to an address that does not exist;
- sign-in by link (magic link) and access recovery by email;
- receipts and subscription emails — they go to exactly this address, see Subscription and payment.
Check the address in Settings → Account → Email and replace it with your work email if needed — the change is confirmed with a code sent by email. Do this before you need to pay or send invitations.
Adding another tracker — do NOT sign out
To connect a second tracker (for example, add Yandex Tracker next to Redmine), do not sign out. Trackers are added from the organizations section:
- Open Organizations.
- Open the organization you need.
- Tap + (add integration).
- Choose the tracker and authorize.
The new tracker is added as an integration inside this organization. Your current account and data stay as they are.
This way you choose which organization the tracker goes to. If you did sign out and signed in with another tracker from the sign-in screen, that is fine too: no new account is created on this phone (see below).
Where tracker connections are stored
Some trackers are connected on this device only — their access (token) is never sent anywhere:
- All trackers except Redmine and Taiga (Yandex Tracker, Bitrix24, Jira Cloud, Linear, Kaiten, OpenProject, GitHub and others) — the access token is stored encrypted on this phone only. This keeps us within these services' rules and keeps your access off third-party servers. As a consequence, the connection does not move to another device — when you sign in on a new phone, connect the tracker again.
- Redmine, Taiga — linked to the organization on the server and available on any of your devices after sign-in.
All connected trackers (both device-only and server-side) are shown the same way: Organizations → your organization → Integrations tab.
Signing in with another tracker from the sign-in screen
One phone has one Taskloc account. If, on a phone where you have already signed in, you sign in with a tracker that is not yet connected to any account, no new account is created: the tracker is added to your current account, the data on the device stays in place, and the app shows "Tracker added to your account".
A separate account appears in only two cases:
- Your first sign-in on a new phone or in a new browser uses a tracker you have never connected before — Taskloc does not know yet that it is you. Sign in with a tracker you have already used and add the new one afterwards.
- The tracker already belongs to another Taskloc account — then the sign-in leads to that account. Taskloc does not automatically merge accounts that already hold data, and does not link them by matching names or emails. Merging two accounts is not available yet (it is planned).
Deleting your account
To delete your Taskloc account completely: Settings → Account → Delete account.
All account data is deleted: organizations where you are the only owner, connected integrations, GPS sessions, routes and time records. The action is irreversible — the data cannot be restored after deletion.
Do not confuse this with signing out (Sign out): signing out only clears this device, and the data on the server is kept. Deleting the account erases the data on the server for good.
