FAQ and troubleshooting
Solutions to common problems
GPS and routes
Mileage shows 0 km / a route without points
Cause: GPS points did not get recorded before the session stopped (a short session, or the app was closed right after the start).
What to do:
- After tapping Start, wait 10–15 seconds before putting the phone in your pocket — this is the time needed to get the first GPS fix.
- Make sure the app has the Location permission set to Allow all the time (not Allow only while using the app).
- Turn off battery optimization for Taskloc (see Permissions).
GPS stops when the phone is in a pocket
This is the manufacturer's aggressive battery optimization. The solution is in Permissions → Battery optimization.
No GPS on a Huawei / Honor device
On devices without Google Play Services (HMS), the app uses HMS Location Kit (Huawei) or the standard Android GPS. Everything keeps working, but fixes may arrive a little slower.
Sign-in
The "Taskloc session expired" banner
When the network comes back, the app automatically tries to re-authorize without asking for a password. The banner should disappear within a minute.
If the banner does not go away, tap Sign in and enter your Redmine credentials again. All tasks and GPS tracks are saved, no data is lost.
Possible causes:
- Your Redmine password has changed.
- The Taskloc session expired after a long time offline.
- The Taskloc server was unavailable during token rotation.
"Invalid login or password" on sign-in
- Check the Redmine address — without
https://, the app adds it itself. Example:redmine.company.com. - Make sure you use your login, not your email (if Redmine is set up for sign-in by login).
- Try opening the Redmine address in a browser and signing in there — if it does not work there, the problem is not in Taskloc.
Emails do not arrive: invitation, sign-in link, payment receipt
Most often the issue is not the mail service but the address in your account. If you signed in with a tracker, Taskloc took your email from it, and when the tracker did not share the address (for example, Redmine with "Hide my email" checked), it put in a placeholder address such as ivanov@redmine.local. It looks like an email, but mail sent to it goes nowhere, and nobody learns about the delivery failure.
What to check:
- Settings → Account → Email. If the address ends in
.localor you do not recognize it, that is the one. In Bitrix24 the placeholder looks different, like12@company.bitrix24.ru— check whether it is really your mailbox. - Replace the address with your work email — the change is confirmed with a code sent to the new address.
- If the address is correct but the email is still missing, check the spam folder and your company's mail filters.
Special cases:
- An invitation does not find the person by email. The inviter enters the address that is set in the invited person's account. If it is a placeholder, there will be no match — ask the person to replace their email first, then send the invitation again.
- The subscription payment receipt. It goes to the organization owner's email; a placeholder address will not receive it. More in Subscription and payment.
- Sign-in by link (magic link) works only for a real address. If your account has a placeholder, sign in with the same tracker as before and replace the email in the settings.
Replacing the address does not re-send emails and receipts that have already gone out — you will need to request them from support.
Notifications
No notification during tracking
- Make sure notifications are allowed for Taskloc: phone Settings → Apps → Taskloc → Notifications → Allow.
- On Xiaomi: Settings → Notifications & status bar — make sure Taskloc is not blocked.
- Restart the session: stop tracking and start it again.
The notification appears but disappears after a few minutes
The system kills the background service. The solution is to turn off battery optimization (see Permissions).
Sync
Tasks do not update
- Check your internet connection.
- Pull to refresh — pull the task list down.
- If that does not help, sign out and sign in again.
A comment or status stays "unsent" for a long time
This is normal on a weak connection. The operation is queued and will be sent automatically once a stable network is back. If an operation stays queued for more than 30 minutes while you have a network, contact support.
Time is not written to the tracker
Time on a task (when tracking or the timer finishes) is sent to the tracker as a separate operation. There are only two reasons it may not go through, and they are different:
- The tracker has no time tracking at all — there is nowhere to write and nothing to turn on. These are GitHub, Linear, Taiga, YouGile, monday.com and Trello.
- Time tracking exists but is closed by the tracker's configuration — the time tracking module is turned off, or your role has no permission to log time. This applies to the other trackers, and an administrator can help here.
What to do, by tracker (for point 2, ask your tracker administrator):
- Redmine — error "422". Project settings → Modules → Time tracking.
- OpenProject — error "403". Project settings → Modules → Time and costs; then in Administration → Roles and permissions turn on Log own time for your role, and make sure you are a member of the project.
- Kaiten — the setting is found in the space, not in the project, and it is not about the plan or the Time tracking module: writing time from the app works on any paid plan, including the entry-level one, and without the module connected. Check whether the role is made mandatory when logging time and whether your account has permission to log time. If the workspace still refuses, the app writes the time as a comment on the card — the time is not lost. More in Kaiten.
- Bitrix24 — the lock on the Time tracking button inside the portal does not get in the way: it closes an interface feature of Bitrix24 itself, while the app writes time programmatically, by another route — including on the lower plans (verified on a live portal on 06.08.2026). More in Bitrix24.
- Pyrus, Megaplan — these trackers have no separate time entry: the app writes the time as a parameter of a comment on the task. Look for it in the task comments, not in a time report.
- Asana — time entries are available only on paid Asana plans (Starter and above); on the free Personal plan Asana refuses the write, and the app shows that refusal. More in Asana.
- Yandex Tracker, Jira, Weeek, Aspro.Cloud, ClickUp — no known restrictions on writing time; if it still does not go through, check your role's permissions in the tracker itself with an administrator.
- GitHub, Linear, Taiga, YouGile, monday.com, Trello — these trackers have no time tracking at all (there is nothing to turn on): the time is kept only in Taskloc — this is normal behavior, not an error. More in GitHub, Linear, Taiga.
Important: even if the write to the tracker did not go through, the time is saved in Taskloc — it is visible in the reports (the Mileage section, the dashboard). When the module is turned off, the write to the tracker is silently skipped, without an error — this is intentional, so as not to interfere with the tracker's settings.
Subscription
I bought Team in one organization and created a second one — do I have to pay again?
Yes. The subscription belongs to the organization, not to a person: each team pays for its own seats separately. You can create a second organization for free, but working in it with two or more people requires its own Team subscription.
This is how most team services work (Slack, Notion, Linear): the team pays, not the person. If you were invited to someone else's paid organization, you take a seat paid for by its owner, and you do not need your own subscription for that.
The trial, however, is given once per account: you cannot get another 14 days by creating a new organization. More in Subscription and payment.
Performance
The app is slow when opening Settings
A known issue on devices with slow Encrypted SharedPreferences (often Xiaomi and Huawei). The fix is in the current version — update the app.
The Route screen takes a long time to load
A large route (over 1000 points) takes a few seconds to process — this is normal. A loading indicator shows the progress.
Support
If the problem is not solved, write to support@taskloc.com describing the problem and the app version (shown in Settings → About).
It also helps to attach logs: Settings → Logs — tap Share and send the log file together with the description of the problem.
