Asana personal access token — connecting, sections, completion and plan limits
The Asana connector shows tasks from your workspace and lets you comment on them, move them between sections and complete them. In the app the role of a project is played by an Asana project. An Asana task has no status: the role of a column is played by a section, and completion is a separate "completed" flag; the app sets both.
Address, mileage and time entries depend on your Asana plan. On the free Personal plan Asana has neither custom fields (so no address and no mileage) nor time entries — they are available from a paid plan (Starter and above). The plan cannot be detected in advance: it shows up in Asana's response to the first write attempt, and the app will show the refusal "the Asana plan does not allow writing time". Tasks, sections, completion and comments work on any plan; the time is saved in Taskloc either way.
Attachments are not supported — you cannot attach files and photos to an Asana task from the app.
How to connect
- In Asana issue a token: My Settings → Apps → Manage Developer Apps → Personal access token. No administrator is needed.
- In the app open Settings → Organizations → your organization → Integrations → "+" (or Settings → Connectors → "+" for a personal connector).
- Choose Asana.
- Paste the Personal access token and tap Connect. You do not need to enter an address — Asana has a single cloud for all customers.
A personal access token carries all the permissions of your Asana account — it cannot be restricted to specific permissions. Keep it like a password.

Asana specifics
- Sections are addressed by name. Automatic section change on GPS start, timer start and completion is configured by section name and is looked up in the project of the specific task. If its project has no such section, the app will show a refusal. A task outside a project has no sections at all — its section does not change.
- The completion section does not close the task on its own: the app always sets the "completed" flag, and the section name only adds to it. Leave the field empty if the task should be completed without changing its section.
- Time is written in minutes. Asana does not accept a session shorter than a minute — such a duration stays only in Taskloc.
- A tracker field is the gid of a custom field, not its name. The field must be added to the task's project: a field from another project will not appear on the card. More in "Tracker fields".
