Bitrix24 time tracking with GPS for field employees
Bitrix24 holds the whole company: deals, tasks, chats. Field staff — surveyors, service engineers, installers — won't open it during the day, and they don't have to. Taskloc records a GPS session for the task by itself and sends the finished hours back to Bitrix24, into the task's time log.
The usual picture
- The task exists, the time doesn't: hours are filled in once a week, from whatever people remember.
- The client visit is invisible in the task — whether someone was on site or not, there is no way to check.
- Travel and work at the client merge into one number: "three hours".
- On the lower Bitrix24 plans the "Time tracking" button shows a lock, which makes it look as if time can't get into the task at all.
First, the lock on the "Time tracking" button
This is the most common misconception, so let's clear it up: time from the app is written to the Bitrix24 task on the lower plans too, where the "Time tracking" button is locked.
The lock closes a button in the portal's own interface. The app writes time programmatically, by a different route, and the lock doesn't affect it — verified on a live portal. Once written, the hours appear both in the Bitrix24 task log and in the Taskloc task card.
A rule worth remembering: a lock on a button in a tracker's interface tells you about that interface, not about what the app can do.
How Bitrix24 time tracking works in the app
- Connect: enter your portal address and authorize in the browser via OAuth.
- The employee opens a task from their workgroup in the app and starts a GPS session.
- Time and route are recorded automatically; a check-in marks the client visit.
- When the session stops, the hours land in the Bitrix24 task — together with a comment and a status change.
A note on terms: the task container in Bitrix24 is a group, workgroup or project. A task created from the app is assigned to the current user. Comments, tags, attachments, time entries and ready-made filters by role — Doing, Helping, Delegated, Watching — and by status are supported.
What managers get
- Time on every task, recorded while the work happened, not at the end of the week.
- A check-in as proof of the visit: location, geofence, route.
- Mileage and the route of each trip on a map.
- A live team map and per-employee reports in the web dashboard.
- Hours where you already look for them — in the portal's task log.
What depends on your Bitrix24 plan, and what doesn't
The flip side of the same story about plans:
- Custom task fields don't work on plans below Professional. Bitrix24 doesn't let you create them, so mileage isn't written to the task card and the geofence center isn't filled in from an address. The numbers are not lost — mileage stays in Taskloc.
- There is no auto-pause: pauses are recorded in Taskloc only. Server-side auto-pause exists for the Redmine connector — see time tracking for Redmine.
- Portals of other organizations through a shared OAuth app are not supported — the connector works with your own portal only.
- Routes, reports and the map need an internet connection. Tasks, the timer and the GPS session work offline and catch up once the network is back.

Privacy
The employee starts the GPS session. While it runs, time and route are recorded; outside a session there is no location data. Stop the shift and you disappear from the team map. Who sees what is set by team policies, not handed out to everyone.
Bitrix24 questions
The button is locked — will time still be logged?
Yes. The lock limits a button in the portal interface, while the app writes time programmatically. Hours show up in the task log on the lower plans too.
So what does depend on the plan?
Custom fields. Below Professional, Bitrix24 doesn't allow creating them: mileage isn't written to the task card and the geofence isn't built from an address. Mileage itself stays in Taskloc.
Do I need to install anything in the portal?
No. You don't need an app from the Bitrix24 Market: the connection uses OAuth — you enter the portal address and confirm access in the browser.
Is there auto-pause?
No. Pauses are recorded in Taskloc only. Among all connectors, server-side auto-pause exists only for Redmine.
Can I connect another department's portal?
No. Through the shared OAuth app the connector works with one portal — yours.
Is there an iPhone app?
No. Field staff use the Android app; managers use the web dashboard in a browser.
Where it helps most
Bitrix24 often carries both sales and field work — surveys, installation, service. If your case is installation crews, see time tracking for installation crews. For service requests — field service visit tracking.
